Maintenance Manager

Overview:

Lakin Tire West, LLC. is a leading tire recycling facility committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We specialize in the efficient and eco-friendly processing of used tires, turning them into valuable products and reducing landfill waste.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and maintenance procedures. This role recommends and implements improvements to production and maintenance processes, methods, and controls. The Maintenance Manager coordinates manufacturing efforts to meet production needs, sets department strategy, leads general maintenance activities, and owns the results.

Success in this role requires a broad knowledge of equipment and tools and the ability to effect change through influence. The position is often hands-on, involving regular interaction with shop floor personnel to ensure departmental and company goals are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are performed under general supervision:

  • Act as the main point of contact with other departments for maintenance services.
  • Lead maintenance technicians to meet performance standards, including PM completion, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Develop team members by training frontline employees, setting expectations, providing feedback, and recognizing and rewarding good performance.
  • Schedule all required factory preventative maintenance via CMMS and documented methods.
  • Maintain machine service records and performance data.
  • Identify performance gaps, investigate root causes, and implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
  • Production of scrap load and logistic coordination management for efficient flow of tires.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Overhaul equipment and install new machinery.
  • Conduct facility maintenance and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
  • Generate parts and supply requests to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Implement data collection strategies to obtain product and process data and analyze data to make informed decisions about product or process changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including approving projects and costs.
  • Wheel return program tracking and monitoring to verify completion.
  • Performs additional duties & responsibilities as assigned by the West Regional Sr. Mechanical Engineer and General Manager.

Qualifications & Competencies

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a maintenance supervisory position with frontline employees required.
  • 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Training in welding, metal fabrication, mechanical principles, and basic electricity is preferred.
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge, including an understanding of motors, drive systems, and optimizing gear ratios for applications.
  • Experience in a production atmosphere is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machine manuals, instructions, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs is helpful.
  • Skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) are advantageous—AutoCAD preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret general business writing and produce routine reports, business correspondence, and emails.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Must possess mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work areas.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Requires manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and frequent movement including climbing and kneeling.

Salary:

$100,000-$125,000
